Access Sport Newcastle is based at multi-million pound Leisure United Bullocksteads Sports Hub which comprises of two floodlit 3G pitches, seven grass pitches alongside a new two-storey pavilion, education facilities, 150 station gym, functional training area and studio. A perfect environment for male and females aged 16-18 to excel as academics and athletes on our further education programme, preparing them holistically for progression onto university, U.S scholarships, apprenticeships and future employment within the sport industry.

With fantastic education facilities onsite at Leisure United Bullocksteads, students study towards a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development and Coachingor aLevel 2 Diploma in Physical Preparation & Employability, while focusing on a career pathway in coaching & teaching, sports science or public service. These highly practical qualifications (no exams) and course pathways focus on developing the skills, knowledge and industry relevant experiences to prepare students for their chosen progression route and future career aspirations.
Students can also gain valuable experience opportunities across a range of coaching, sports science, analysis, and media roles that will enrichen their CV’s developing confidence and invaluable communication, leadership and team skills.
Weekly professional development hours are built into students timetables (Go Live Programme), which enables them to develop employability and important skills, contacts and experiences that can be transferable to any future career.
Enhanced practical learning and fitness development is also offered with educational lessons delivered from the fantastic on-site gym facilities. This provides students with the opportunity to build their very own pro-fitness plans, along with strength and conditioning and post match recovery sessions with our specialist coaches and fitness qualified tutors.
For those who may not achieve their grade 4 in Maths and English GCSE the first time around, weekly sessions are timetabled to support development and preparation towards resitting exams alongside the students sport diploma studies.

As well as the training sessions, students benefit from a specific strength and conditioning programme and analysis sessions utilising the latest in performance analysis technology including VEO Cameras, Playertek GPS Vests and Sports Coaching Session Planner software. This provides students with not only a high level player development experience but the opportunity for those seeking careers in coaching, sports science and analysis to get hands on with technology used in the professional game.
For those with elite football pedigree, we also work closely with a range of semi-professional and professional football development clubs to provide opportunities to showcase their talent.
International Football and funded career focused tours are also options for students during their time with the college.
