THIS TWO-YEAR COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH A STRONG INTEREST IN THE FITNESS & LEISURE INDUSTRY WHILE GAINING A VALUABLE SKILL SET, INDUSTRY EXPERIENCES AND RECOGNISED QUALIFICATIONS IN PERSONAL TRAINING AND GYM INSTRUCTING.

Students who complete this course, alongside our Fitness & Leisure pathway will open opportunities to progress onto university, apprenticeships and employment, with a view of a future career in the fitness, leisure and sport industry including personal training, gym instructing, sport science, teaching, community health and wellbeing, management and more…

Year 1

In year 1 students will work across a variety of industry disciplines, these include; Careers in Sport, Fitness Skills Development, Fitness Testing and Organising Events.

Each area of study will include key Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours involved within them, with learners being given the opportunity to practise these throughout the week within the fantastic gym and sport facilities we operate alongside qualified tutors and industry professionals. Learners will experience a range of practical and classroom based lessons, with all assignments being assessed internally using various methods including written assignments, practical assignments, spoken assignments and project works.

This course has been developed inline with CIMSPA standard of gym instructing and personal training and during year 1 students will also study towards a dedicated gym instructing qualification that will make them employment ready within the industry

Year 2

In year 2 students will learn about a variety of different optional and mandatory units. This will include Personal Training, Sports Nutrition, Research Projects, Business and Technology in Personal Training, Sports Tourism and Fitness Training. These units will help specialise the understanding students have made in Year 1 and give them a range of academic and vocational skills for the world of work.

These units will help specialise the understanding students have made in Year 1 and give them a range of academic and vocational skills and experiences creating an enriched CV read for progression onto university, apprenticeships, employment and future careers within the fitness, leisure and sport industry.

Combined with this course students will also secure work placements gaining invaluable experience and study towards an industry recognised qualification in Personal Training that will enhance employability opportunities upon completing the course.
