Access Sport Portsmouth

Students study towards a two year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development and Coaching qualification that is attached to one of our industry career focused pathways in either  coaching & teaching or sports science . Both the qualification and course pathways are 100% practical and cover a wide variety of topics across a wide range of sporting careers.

The course allows students to focus on developing industry relevant skills, knowledge and experiences to support their progression onto university, U.S Scholarships, Apprenticeships or direct employment

With established relationships with, local clubs and schools, students can also gain valuable industry opportunities across a range of coaching, sports science, analysis, officiating and media roles, that will enrichen their CV’s and develop their skillset.

Professional development hours are also built into students timetables which enables them to gain work experience, transferable employability skills and build contacts and industry experiences that supports them within their future career journeys.

On the pitch The Access Sport Portsmouth Football Education Programme is designed for both elite players looking to develop as far as they can up the football pyramid and those that wish to continue to play and use their passion in further education to secure a future in sport off the pitch..

Students train everyday with our highly qualified UEFA coaches and FA educators at the fantastic Guiseley AFC trainign facilities , developing as players physically and technically utilising the latest in performance technology (VEO Cameras, Playertek GPS Vests and Sports Coaching Session Planner). This professional technology is also available for students aspiring to be sports scientists, analysts and coaches to get hands on a develop a portfolio of experience that support their future career aspirations.

Students compete in highly competitive league and cup competitions every Wednesday and our coaching team are well associated within game, provide elite students who they feel show the right application and attitude with the opportunity to trial at professional or semi-professional clubs.

Throughout the season students also have the opportunity to take part in national tournaments, international tours featuring academies from across the world and funded career focused education trips.
