The Education & Professional Development
Based at Barnards Soccer Centre, Lowestoft, students study towards a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development, while focusing on a career pathway in either coaching & teaching, sports science . The highly practical qualification (no exams) and course pathways focus on developing the skills, knowledge and industry relevant experiences to prepare students for their chosen progression route and future career aspirations.
With established relationships with local schools, community sport projects and partner club Lowestoft Town F.C, students can also gain valuable work experience opportunities across a range of coaching, sports science, analysis, officiating and media roles that will enrichen their CV’s developing confidence and invaluable communication, leadership and team skills.
Students also have weekly professional development hours built into their timetable (Go Live Programme), which enables them to develop employability and important skills, contacts and experiences that can be transferable to any future career.
Enhanced practical learning and fitness development is also offered with educational lessons delivered once per week from the Everyone Active gym facility which features a state of the art 150 station gym, pool and studios. This will include strength and conditioning and post match recovery sessions with our specialist coaches and tutors.
For students who may not achieve the required entry grades of four GCSE’s and grade four and above, we can also offer a one year Level 2 qualification in Physical Preparation and Employability that students can then progress onto our Level 3 qualification once completed.
Access Sport can also support students who don’t get their grade 4 in Maths and English GCSE the first time around. Weekly sessions are timetabled to support development and preparation towards resitting exams alongside students diploma and player development studies.
