Delivered in partnership with the North West’s leading combat sports and mixed martial arts academies, the Combat Sports College and Smith Brothers Boxing Academy based in Liverpool is a unique opportunity for young people aged 16-18 with a true passion for combat sports who wish to advance in the industry.
The Combat Sports College and Smith Brothers Boxing Academy further education programme offers successful applicants the chance to pursue four key pathways within the combat sports industry: professional athlete, university, coaching, or an industry role such as referee or judge. By combining a winning formula of qualifications, real-life work experience, and a genuine network of industry professionals, our students are well equipped to become the industry leaders of tomorrow in and out of the cage.

Academically Students study towards a two year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development and Coaching qualification that is attached to one of our industry career focused pathways in either coaching or sports science. Both the qualification and course pathways are 100% practical and cover a range of industry relevant topics across a variety of sport industry careers.
For those that don’t meet the Level 3 entry criteria, we also offer a one year Level 2 Diploma in Sport Coaching which upon passing provides students the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma or provide opportunities to seek apprenticeships within the industry.
What makes the Combat Sports College & Smith Brothers Boxing Academy unique is that it is the first of its kind to provide students with recognised national qualifications, along with governing body qualifications (ABA and GBW).
The college provides crucial and relative real world experiences across a diverse array of settings. From running your own community classes to coaching within your gym environment there will be encouragement and support available to help students secure invaluable work experience alongside their education.
The combat sports and boxing industry is full of enrichment opportunities both domestically and internationally. From visits to national sports institutes and fight camps abroad, to guest speakers and seminars, Combat Sports College and Smith Brothers Boxing Academy offers valuable and memorable experiences to both enrich and enhance students’ passion within the combat sport and boxing industry.

Delivered by working MMA and boxing professionals including former Commonwealth, British and European champions, the Combat Sports College and Smith Brothers Boxing Academy develops meaningful partnerships with the Northwest’s leading combat sports, mixed martial and boxing academies to provide outstanding opportunities for elite athlete development, providing students with the opportunity to train and develop as athletes (fitness & nutrition) everyday alongside their education to truly supports their career development and achieve maximum performance in the cage or ring.
While the practical education and athlete development is delivered at the fantastic facilities of the Combat Sports College in Liverpool, students can continue to train and represent their own academies to develop their skill as athletes along with their aspirations of fighting at the highest levels (regional, national or international).
This partnership approach has successfully seen numerous alumni reap the rewards through determination and skill, to achieve their ambitions in becoming MMA and boxing professionals and champions.
