Students study towards a two year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development and Coaching qualification that is attached to one of our industry career focused pathways in either coaching & teaching or sports science. Both the qualification and course pathways are 100% practical and cover a wide variety of topics across a wide range of sporting careers.
The course allows students to focus on developing industry relevant skills, knowledge and experiences to support their progression onto university, U.S Scholarships, Apprenticeships or our Level 4 HNC qualification.
For those that don’t meet the level 3 entry criteria, we also offer a one year Level 2 Diploma in Physical Preparation & Employability which upon passing provides students the opportunity to progress onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma or future careers within areas such as the public sector.

On the pitch The Steven Gerrard Further Education Programme is designed for both elite players looking to develop as far as they can up the football pyramid and those that wish to continue to play recreationally and use their passion in further education.
Our games programme enables players to be in a team appropriate to their age, ability and physicality. Elite squads have opportunity to play in the FA Youth Cup against professional youth academies, compete in the National Football Youth League against Premier League and Championship clubs and playing in high profile showcase games. Other squads play in local leagues and cup competitions. All teams follow the same programme content giving players opportunity to develop and become the best version of themselves. Every squad has the opportunity to tour to the likes of Dallas, Spain, Tenerife, Finland and United Kingdom destinations.
We are ‘Obsessed to be the Best’ and this is reflected in the recruitment of our staff. Our coaches are UEFA qualified, most with coaching and playing experience at professional clubs. Our ethos is to develop players to be the best they possibly can be providing opportunities in professional, semi professional and grassroots football in the UK and globally.
We use the latest sport science equipment to support coaches and players including performance analysis providing video and statistical feedback to our players and coaches, both great tools for individual and team development. GPS systems allow us to track players’ physical performance, monitor training load and measure performance metrics, such as distance covered, top speed and energy expenditure.
Our players complete fitness and body composition testing at the start, middle and end of the season. Players follow a programme set and monitored by sport scientists aimed to develop agility, develop robustness, strength, and power. This is aided by sport nutrition advice to support player recovery and growth.
We have a number of sites across the UK & Ireland, including Liverpool, Chester, Derry and Larne. All students across these sites have access to top level facilities consisting of 4G football pitches and gym facilities as well as the best football equipment for training sessions. In addition to our own facilities, we have gained valuable links with local universities who allow us access onto their multi-million pound sports facilities and use of equipment
